Village of Cyprus - Omodhos

Omodhos is a busy, large village that is extremely popular with tourists, so do not attempt to drive through it. Park in the allocated parking outside the village. Omodhos is a centre of regional wine and well known for lace making. Wander through the picturesque narrow streets, with their traditional houses and courtyards, often with ladies sitting in doorways and courtyards (avli) embroidering the lace on dark-coloured cushions. The glass showroom of Dempsi is also a place to visit although glass-blowing is usually done in a separate workshop.

Among the attractions of Omodhos are Timios Stavros Monastery, at the bottom of the square, which possesses the largest door key in Cyprus; Linos, the village's famous old wine press (which can be found just off the Square); Apostolos Philippos Chapel; and traditional Cypriot houses now open as ethnographical museums.
