When Agisilaos Francoudi established his Shipping Agency in Famagusta in 1895, he could never have predicted the century of growth and innovation that was to follow. The company has initially provided services in Shipping, Cargo Handling, Freight Forwarding, Customs Clearing and Insurance. At the turn of the century, the company he founded was the first agency to initiate containerization in Cyprus and continued to build its position in the shipping agency/container handling business.
By the 1930s, Francoudi & Stephanou was making its first forays outside of shipping into import of alcohol beverages, trade and distribution. The trend toward diversification accelerated in 1960-70, with the construction of own hotels and acquisition of Aeolos, the pioneer in the Cyprus tourism business sector, and then again in the mid-1990's with the diversification into telecommunication activities through F&S Telecom and Financial Services through F&S Financial Services.
Today, Francoudi & Stephanou is a diversified Group of Companies with over 1500 full time employees in Cyprus and abroad and involved in a broad spectrum of activity in the areas of Shipping, Insurance, Travel & Tourism, Hotels, Telecommunications, Information & Technology, Developments, and Trade.
